This website is operated by Sweeney's Fine Foods Limited, trading as The Sweeney Group ("Sweeney's", "we", "us"). We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have. It applies only to this website. Our stores operate under the Centra and Maxol brands, which have their own websites and privacy policies.

2. Information we collect

We do not take payments on this website and we do not offer customer accounts. We collect personal data in the following ways.

Bakery order form. Your first and last name, contact number, the type of cake you want, the number of people it is for, and your preferred collection date and time.

Catering order form. Your first and last name, email address, phone number, the type of event you are planning, any dietary requirements you tell us about, and your message.

Christmas order form. Your first and last name, phone number, email address, the store where you will collect your order, your preferred collection date and time, and the items and quantities you order.

When you contact us directly. If you email or phone us, we keep the details you give us so we can deal with your query or order.

When you browse the website. Squarespace, our website host, automatically collects information about your browser, network and device, the pages you visited before arriving, the pages you view on this website, your IP address, and how you use the site (clicks, scrolling, searches and timestamps). Some of this is collected through cookies (see section 8).

3. Dietary and allergy information

If you tell us about allergies, intolerances or medical dietary needs on the catering form, that is health information. The law gives it extra protection.

We only use it with your explicit consent, which you give by ticking the consent box on the catering form. We use it for one purpose: to prepare food that is safe for you and your guests. It is seen only by the staff preparing your order.

You do not have to give us this information. If you would rather not provide it online, leave the field blank and phone us instead. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing privacy@sweeneygroup.ie. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did with your information before you withdrew it.

4. Why we use your information and our legal basis

  • Taking, confirming and fulfilling your bakery, catering or Christmas order: we use your name, contact details, and order and collection details. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and performing that contract (Article 6(1)(b)).

  • Preparing food safely for your dietary needs: we use your dietary and allergy information. Legal basis: your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)).

  • Answering questions you send us: we use your name, contact details and message. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to customers (Article 6(1)(f)).

  • Keeping order and financial records: we use order records. Legal basis: compliance with our legal obligations, including tax law (Article 6(1)(c)).

  • Protecting our forms from spam and abuse: we use device and usage data processed by reCAPTCHA. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure (Article 6(1)(f)).

  • Running the website and understanding how it is used: we use browsing and device data. Legal basis: our legitimate interest for necessary cookies (Article 6(1)(f)), and your consent for analytics cookies (Article 6(1)(a)).

  • You do not have to give us your details. If you do not provide the information marked as required on a form, we cannot process your order. We do not use your information for marketing, we never sell it, and we do not make automated decisions about you.

5. Who we share your information with

We share your information only with the service providers we need to run this website and handle your orders. Each one processes it on our instructions under a written contract.

  • Squarespace (Squarespace Ireland Limited and Squarespace, Inc.) hosts this website, stores form submissions and sends them to us by email. Squarespace also uses some website visitor data for its own purposes, as explained in the Squarespace Privacy Policy.

  • Our email service provider hosts the business inbox where form submissions arrive.

  • Google provides reCAPTCHA, which checks that form submissions come from a person and not an automated program. Google's use of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

We may also share information with our professional advisers (such as our accountants), or with the Gardaí, Revenue or a court where the law requires it.

Transfers outside the European Economic Area

Squarespace and Google process some data in the United States. Squarespace, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and Squarespace also uses the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses where needed. Google relies on the same safeguards. These measures are designed to protect your data to the standard required in the EU.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it

  • have inaccurate data corrected

  • have your data erased

  • restrict how we use your data

  • object to our use of your data where we rely on legitimate interests

  • receive your data in a portable format and have it sent to another organisation

  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent

  • complain to the Data Protection Commission

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@sweeneygroup.ie. We will respond within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. Exercising your rights is free.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, 6 Pembroke Row, Dublin 2, D02 X963, Ireland, through www.dataprotection.ie.

8. Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. This website uses necessary cookies, set by Squarespace and by Google reCAPTCHA on our order forms, and analytics cookies set by Squarespace.

  • Necessary cookies let Squarespace serve the website securely. They are always on, because the site cannot work without them.

  • Analytics and performance cookies help us see how many people visit and which pages they use. They are only set if you accept them in our cookie banner.

9. Links to other websites

This website links to the Centra website and to our Instagram and Facebook pages. Those sites are run by other organisations and have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for how they handle your data.

10. Children

This website is not aimed at children. Orders should be placed by someone aged 18 or over.

11. Keeping your information secure

We limit access to your information to the staff who need it to handle your order or enquiry. Our service providers protect it with encryption and access controls.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Any significant changes will be posted on this page.
